Software Engineer Intern - SDEI L1

Role Description

The Software Engineer Intern - SDEI L1 role at Astrexa is a full-time, remote position focused on building and enhancing back-end services and platforms. On a day-to-day basis, the intern will assist in designing, coding, testing, and debugging software components under the guidance of senior engineers. Responsibilities include contributing to back-end web development tasks, writing clean and maintainable code, and implementing object-oriented programming concepts in real project scenarios. The intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, participate in code reviews, and help improve performance, reliability, and security of applications. The role also involves learning and adopting best practices in software development, documentation, and version control while working within an agile environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundational knowledge in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and basic software engineering principles.

  • Practical skills in Software Development and Programming, with experience in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C++, or similar).

  • Understanding of Back-End Web Development concepts, such as APIs, databases, and server-side frameworks.

  • Familiarity with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and their application in real-world projects.

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • Basic experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.

  • Ability to analyze problems, learn new technologies quickly, and work independently in a remote, distributed team.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, growth-oriented mindset.

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) or AI/ML concepts is a plus.
